2022 Song Parody Contest

Contest details: • Open to middle school students. • All submissions must be parodies of an existing song. • Groups of 1–5 students can work together. • Submission must be between 1 and 3.5 minutes. • Topics and key terms to include are provided below. • Read all the rules and requirements carefully. • Submissions are open now and close April 15.  Winners: One group from each school. Grand Prize: The best team from those winners.  A note explains that parodies should be creative and informative and should demonstrate understanding of geothermal energy concepts taught in class.  Rules and requirements: • This is a parody contest; no original songs accepted. • Groups of 1–5 students allowed. • Submissions must be 1–3.5 minutes long. • Each video must include: a title, names of all group members, school name, and credit for original song and artist. • Accepted file types: .mov or .mp4. • Lyrics must be submitted in a separate file. • Permission to Use form must be submitted. • Filenames must include the school name. • No profanity.  Parodies must include some of the following topics: • What is geothermal energy? • Where does geothermal energy come from? • How is geothermal energy harnessed? • What is geothermal energy used for? • Why should we use geothermal energy? • Why is geothermal energy important?  Lyrics must include some vocabulary words such as: Geothermal; renewable energy; clean energy; green energy; environment or environmental; harnessing energy; geothermal resource; heat or Earth heat; temperature; thermal; “heat beneath our feet”; subsurface; convection or conduction; electricity generation; inexhaustible; available 24/7 or round the clock; conventional geothermal systems; hydrothermal systems or resources; enhanced geothermal systems or EGS.
