Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS)
represent an enormous source of energy for the USA. The resource potential of EGS is much greater than the energy needs of our country. The subsurface temperature map shows regions where EGS could be added to the power grid in order to deliver safe and secure energy to the nation.

Technologies to transfer heat from hot, crystalline rock formations to create electricity for use in homes, cities, industry, and vehicles will be tested and proven in Utah. The applied technologies and benefits will be shared with the entire country.
