Hot Springs and Geothermal Energy

A webinar by Dr. Stuart Simmons

In the latest scientific webinar, Dr. Stuart Simmons examines some of the most common surface expressions of geothermal energy. These resources are frequently found near volcanic centers, fault belts, and mountainous regions, manifesting as hot springs, steam discharges, and related thermal features. This discussion covers the different types of surface thermal expressions, their connection to shallow hydrology and deep hydrothermal fluid flow, as well as their impact and evolution over time.

Dr. Simmons is the Technical Expert on geology and geochemistry at Utah FORGE, and a Research Professor at the Energy & Geoscience Institute (EGI) and University of Utah Department of Chemical Engineering. This webinar builds on his earlier presentation addressing conventional geothermal energy resources, which can be found here.
